Did you know ADL’s Stable Foam is different from conventional foams – often known as slick water? Here’s how…ADL’s foam is generated through a patented process creating stiff stable foam at surface, which is tested before being introduced into the well. Being tested at surface gives ADL the ability to know there is consistency throughout the circulating process. ADL’s Stable Foam is highly controllable as a result of a state of the art injection system, which allows the foam composition to be changed in accordance with varying well conditions, thus keeping the well in an underbalanced state at all times. Unlike conventional slick water cleanouts, ADL’s Stable Foam has the capability to extract debris and solids from the formation and not just the wellbore, resulting in a neutral environmental footprint.
Did you know many large oil and gas producers tried using foam many years ago with limited success? First generation foam or slick water had the consistency of soapy water. Pumping agitation was supposed to serve to generate the foam in transit. Friction and shear typically resulted in fluid contact and the absence of active foam, thus producing low quality foam. ADL’s founder Al Leduc knew there had to be a better way of getting foam to the point of desired contact. It is within this premise Stable Foam was born.
